Food Choices and Lifestyle Changes for Better Overall Health

Eating a healthy diet has always been the way to develop a healthier body. Simple changes can make a difference in how your body feels. A Houston Chiropractor Dr. Richard Werner picture of healthy foods to eatproper diet can prevent a long list of diseases. Try by adding one healthy food to your list of foods. Eat a piece of fruit instead of a candy bar.

Traditional junk food, donuts and coffee offered by many business meetings are a poor start to your day but enjoyed by many. Add soft drinks as a quick pick me up, a heavy dinner with lots of protein and you have filled the day with poor eating choices. Due to this, people are suffering from heart and kidney problems at a younger age. Kidney disease is now termed “the silent epidemic.” Unfortunately, at least 26 million Americans are devastated by kidney disease.

Doctors recommend a method for reversing this trend of health problems. People should exercise, eat better and use correct nutritional supplements.

  • Health professionals recommend 20 to 30 minutes of exercise  three to four times per week.
  • Cut food intake and eat in portions. Restaurants serve large portions and fats are not always healthy.
  • Prepare home snacks and bring them with you rather than stopping for fast sugary snacks.
  • Slow alcohol intake and cut smoking. These activities prevent the body from absorbing the nutrition is needs.

  Change Your Diet

  • Make an effort to eat more raw vegetables.  Cooking deplete food of essential nutrients. However, canned tomatoes are an exception. This food aids in the prevention of prostrate cancer. Fresh and frozen food products always hold more nutrition.
  • Where possible, select foods grown organically, these contain fewer toxins and are by far healthier. They have fewer metal and pesticides.
  • Take in at least 30 grams during the day of fiber. This includes beans, some fruit, cereal, vegetables and whole grains. People consuming high fiber diets are less prone to heart disease or colon disorders.
  • Drink water. Do not make the mistake of thinking sodas, tea and coffee will work as a substitute for water. These beverages are dehydrating to the body. A little tender care is always a way to keep the body healthy.

Healthy Tips

  • Eating dark green vegetables offers the best way to fight most illnesses.
  • Do not try to self-diagnosis; it is always wiser to find a medical doctor and/or a Dr. of Chiropractic. Nothing is a substitute for good medical care.
  • A healthy diet and good chiropractic care will go far in creating a healthier you, helping to relieve body aches like back, shoulder, arm and leg pain. Many athletes realize the value of a healthy diet, exercise and often seek chiropractic care to treat sports injuries.
